Fattoria La Selva” nestles in the hills near Trequanda and, together with “Fattoria Chiatina” near Buonconvento, belongs to Duccio Pometti: “La Selva” from the Socini family, well-known bankers, notaries and theologians since the fourteenth century and “Chiatina” from the Ricci family, a wealthy middle class farming family.
The properties are within a few kilometres of each other in the province of Siena and cover more than 2014 acres.
Duccio, who decided not to pursue a career in banking, despite his specialised degree, became a farmer in 1979 when his grandmother, Maria Ricci Socini, handed over the reins of “Fattoria La Selva” to him, which he has now passed on to his daughter Carlotta
“La Selva” dates back to the fifteenth century and is a typical brick and stone building which has been restored and divided into 12 apartments. The apartments vary in size, are all furnished with antique furniture and overflowing with genuine “Tuscan atmosphere”.
The farm has extensive grounds where guests can enjoy the swimming pool, table tennis, a pen with farm animals, the garden with barbecue, a heated whirlpool and a tennis court only 5 km away.
Each week guests can choose from a variety of activities including dinners, walks through the estate to explore the countryside and learn about the wine and oil producing process, tastings and guided tours of the winery.
Cooking courses are also organised where participants can learn how to prepare simple but tasty dishes from the local area.
Recipes are explained step by step (with a translation in English upon request) so guests can get “hands on” experience of preparing a complete meal from the hors-d’oeuvre to the dessert.
At the end of the evening, guests are treated to a delicious dinner where they can taste all the dishes they have made.
The building, which dates back to 1600, was originally restored in 1802 and then from 1995 to 2000.
The Villa, with its swimming pool which affords stunning views over the countryside as far as Siena and Monte Amiata, offers the perfect setting for a relaxing stay in refined surroundings.
The spacious living rooms with their elegant ceilings and authentic family furniture convey an “old Tuscan” atmosphere.
Duccio has personally overseen the restoration work at the Villa and added all the comforts you need for a pleasant stay.
There are 8 tastefully furnished double bedrooms in the Villa with ensuite bathrooms (with shower or jacuzzi), mini bar, as well as spacious living rooms and two large veranda.
The Villa has an Internet connection, air conditioning, a large living room where guests can taste wine as well as typical local dishes (including black and white truffles).
In the garden near the Villa, there is a traditional brick building “Bellaria”, which was once used to store farm machinery but has now been converted into a comfortable apartment.
Bellaria has two double rooms with ensuite bathrooms (with jacuzzi).
Villa Boscarello, a stylish and sophisticated property with large reception rooms and well-kept gardens, is also the perfect setting for weddings and other ceremonies, applied to movie and TV productions, photo and movie shootings, meetings and events in general.
